Earlier, Supreme Court stayed the Karnataka High Court's order refusing to quash the criminal proceedings against him under the Prevention of Corruption of Act, said a Times of India report. The proceedings were pertaining to allegations against Yediyurappa that he illegally denotified acres of land, acquired for an IT project, in the Varthur-Whitefield IT corridor in 2006-07.

An FIR was registered by Lokayukta police in December 2015, on a private complaint filed by Vasudeva Reddy.
