Amid the ongoing border row between Maharashtra and Karnataka, the Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly Siddaramiah slammed CM Basavaraj Bommai and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to have agreed to form a coordination committee with Maharashtra.

Taking to Twitter, Siddaramaiah alleged that this is a ploy of Maharashtra to keep the border issue alive. "Union Home Minister Amit Shah should not have called for a meeting on the Belagavi-Maharashtra border issue and Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai should not have participated in it. This is a ploy of Maharashtra to keep the border issue alive," he tweeted.

He further said that it is not right for Union Minister Amit Shah to form a committee involving three Maharashtra and three Karnataka ministers. Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai should not have agreed to this. "There is triple engine BJP govt in Maharashtra, Karnataka and at the Centre. Home minister Amit Shah should have warned Maharashtra CM to stop anti-social acts along the border areas as the case is in the Supreme Court," the former Karnataka CM took to Twitter.

He also claimed that the border issue was long resolved. "We won't let go even an inch of land," he said. Siddaramiah stated that Karnataka should call for an all-party meeting on the border issue, like how Maharashtra has called one.

Earlier on Saturday, CM Bommai stated that a meeting on the Karnataka-Maharashtra border dispute, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and attended by the chief ministers of both states, will be held shortly. "Our legislators will meet with the Union Home Minister to convey Karnataka's position. Most likely, Amit Shah will convene a conference shortly to ensure peace amongst the people of both states. I'll go to the meeting as soon as he calls," News agency ANI said quoting CM Bommai.
