Chennai: Continuous downpour on Monday in Bengaluru killed one person and brought the IT Capital of India to a standstill. The rains resulted in a short circuit at a home in Konappana Agrahara killing one of the two residents, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr Sanjeev M Patil.
According to an update on ANI, a man was killed due to a short circuit caused by the recent floods at his home in Bengaluru. Two persons were stranded in the house but the second person managed to escape unhurt, said Sanjeev Patil, DCP of West Division, Bengaluru city.

The heavy rains also flooded roads of Kempegowda International Airport resulting in waterlogging and leaving passengers stranded. A video that surfaced on social media showed some of the stranded passengers riding a tractor to board the flight. Many flights were rescheduled including flights bound to Chennai, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. However, the district administration cleared the inundation on Tuesday.
Kempegowda International Airport reportedly recorded a massive 178.3 mm of rainfall on Monday.
According to a report on News 18, the Bengaluru Urban district witnessed rainfall of 78 mm between October 1 to 9. The rains were 28% higher than the normal rainfall of 61 mm, as per the data given by Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre. The recent rains have also made weather experts opine that the state is heading towards the wettest October in the last two decades.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert to places including Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Belagavi, Bagalkot, Gadag and Chikkamangaluru.
