New Delhi: Three persons were injured after an alleged argument between two communities led to violence in Bagalkot's Kerur on Wednesday evening. Speaking about the incident, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday said that the incident happened due to personal issues and not the situation is under control after police arrested few people.


"Kerur incident happened due to personal issues. Police have already controlled the situation & some arrests are done; injured admitted to hospitals. We've given instructions to both communities to maintain peace," Bommai said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Bagalkot Deputy Commissioner, P Sunilkumar said that police have detained 10 people and have started to interrogate them. While explaining the incident, he said soon after the incident, a group of miscreants barged into the market, and set fire to carts, and vandalised bikes. A holiday was announced for schools and colleges in Kerur due to the violence.


 The incident involved Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Suhilkumar further said. Section 144 has been imposed to bring the situation under control in Kerur town.
