Opposition parties extend support to govt. in fight against terrorism

New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): Director General Press Information Bureau (PIB) Frank Noronha on Thursday said that the meeting with the opposition parties was held to apprise them with the veracity of the terror attack on the Amarnath pilgrims.

Noronha said that all political parties condemned the attack and assured support to the government in the regard.

"Above 19 MPs from different parties were present and those who have not been called today will be called tomorrow at the same time. The endeavour was to apprise the member of the parliament from different parties about the situation on the terrorist attack on Amarnath pilgrims," said Noronha.

"All the political parties without exception condemned the attack severely and expressed support to the government in making all security arrangements," he added.

In an endeavor to build a consensus between Centre and opposition parties on two critical issues - tension in Jammu and Kashmir and border standoff with China at Doklam in Sikkim---a meeting was held at Home Minister Rajnath Singh's residence, where External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj briefed the leaders on the issues.

Leaders of all prominent opposition parties, including the Congress, attended the meeting. (ANI)
