Nitish ties rakhi to tree, pledges to promote greenery

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], August 7 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday took pledge to save trees.

Nitish celebrated Raksha Bandhan in a unique way by tying rakhi to a tree at Rajdhani Vatika in Patna.

Meanwhile, while tying Rakhi to a tree on 'Vriksha Raksha Diwas' he took a pledge to protect trees. The motive behind to start this tradition was to conserve trees.

We should protect trees in the same way as brothers pledge to safeguard their sisters on Raksha Bandhan, Nitish said.

The Chief Minister said that government is aiming to increase 15 percent green area by planting more and more trees.

Sushil Kumar Modi, the Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, was also present.(ANI)
