Pratap Chandra Sarangi takes oath as Minister of State in NDA 2.0 government




Pratap Chandra Sarangi, is an Indian politician and a social worker from Balasore, Odisha. He has served as a National Executive member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He had been elected as Member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, two times: from 2004 to 2009 and from 2009 to 2014, both times from Nilagiri constituency.


Nityanand Rai takes oath as Minister of State in NDA 2.0 government




Nityanand Rai yadav was a member of parliament elected in the 2014 General Election from Ujiarpur as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He had continuously represented Hajipur constituency in Bihar legislative assembly winning elections since 2000 till he was elected for the parliament.


Suresh Angadi takes oath as Minister of State in NDA 2.0 government




Suresh Angadi is a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka. He was a Member of the 16th Lok Sabha from Belagavi. He was born to Somawwa and Chanabasappa Angadi and completed his graduation from S.S.S. Samithi College of commerce in Belgaum.
Anurag Singh Thakur was the next to take oath of office in NDA 2.0 government. Thakur was a member of 16th Lok Sabha from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh in India. He is the son of Prem Kumar Dhumal, the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He was first elected to Lok Sabha in May 2008 in a by poll as a candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party.
Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre took oath of office in NDA 2.0 government. Dhotre was a member of the 16th Lok Sabha of India. He represents the Akola constituency of Maharashtra and is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party political party. He was also a member of the 14th Lok Sabha and 15th Lok Sabha between 2004-2014 from Akola.

Nirmala Sitharaman takes oath of office




Nirmala Sitharam who was appointed as India's first woman Defence Minister into the Narendra Modi cabinet after the 2014 Lok Sabha election. She was also the first one to take charge of this key ministry full time. Sitharaman has also served as the Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs under the Ministry of Finance and the Minister for Commerce and Industry with independent charge.

Another senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari came up to the podium at Rashtrapati Bhavan to take oath as the Union Cabinet minister in NDA 2.0 government.


After Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh too took oath in NDA 2.0 government. Amit Shah followed Singh to take oath as a Union Cabinet minister infront of President Ram Nath Kovind.

According to a recent update, Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal United is not likely to get any portfolio in Modi 2.0 government. JDU won 16 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

Speaking to news agency PTI, filmmaker Boney Kapoor said he that feels happy and fortunate to be a part of Modi government's oath taking ceremony. 'The kind of victory they have had, It is almost like a celebration. It is celebration of democracy. Something good has happened and it will continue to happen,' Kapoor said.
Bollywood celebrities including Rajinikanth, Kangana Ranaut, Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Karan Johar are likely to attend PM Modi's oath-taking ceremony today.




As per sources, ex foreign secretary S Jaishankar is likely to get a cabinet portfolio in Modi 2.0 government.
Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh get calls on cabinet berths along with other leaders including VK Singh, Jitendra Singh, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
Hours ahead of the oath taking ceremony, Gujarat BJP President Jitu Vaghani took to Twitter and announced that Amit Shah is getting a cabinet portfolio in Modi 2.0 government. In his tweet, Vaghani also congratulated Shah for the new role.



Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi will on Thursday meet the NDA's newly-elected MPs who will take the oath of office and secrecy with him later in the day. Security on high alert in Delhi




According to reports, over 10,000 security personnel from Delhi Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in the city on the account of Narendra Modi's oath taking ceremony today. The event will witness some of leading foreign dignitaries and chief ministers and governors of several states among others. Quick Response Teams are also deployed at several crucial spots.
In the wake of the oath taking ceremony of PM elect Narendra Modi and his cabinet, the movement of general public to be closed at Rajpath (from Vijay Chowk to Rashtrapati Bhawan), Vijay Chowk and adjoining areas including North and South fountain, South Avenue, North Avenue, Dara Shikoh Road, Church Road between 4 PM to 9 PM today.
Leaders from the Shiv Sena, Janata Dal United, Apna Dal, LJP, SAD, RSLP and AGP are likely to get a berth each in the new Narendra Modi Cabinet. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also confirmed this and told ANI that Arwind Sawant from Sena is likely to get a Cabinet berth.

When Modi is sworn-in at around 7PM, it will be the second time he takes the oath at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Modi was sworn in by the then President Pranab Mukherjee in 2014 in the presence of over 3,500 guests including the heads of SAARC countries. Earlier, Chandra Shekhar in 1990 and Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1999 were sworn in at the sprawling forecourt.

On Modi govt inauguration, mercury in Delhi likely to hit 44 deg C




Narendra Modi will take oath for a second term as prime minister on one of the hottest days of the month with the weatherman predicting that the mercury in the national capital could touch the 44-degree Celsius mark on Thursday.
The city recorded the maximum temperature at 43.1 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, a Met official said, adding the mercury may rise further in the coming days.
The minimum was recorded at 23.6 degrees Celsius, two notches below the normal, and humidity levels were between 19 and 53 per cent.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the national capital Wednesday recorded the air quality in the moderate category at 186, with PM10, ozone and PM2.5 being the major pollutants.
The official said heat wave conditions will prevail in a few pockets of the city on Thursday. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be between 44 and 25 degrees Celsius.
India Meteorological Department regional weather forecasting chief Kuldeep Srivastav said heat wave conditions will prevail in Delhi over the next four-five days with the mercury soaring to 45-46 degrees Celsius.

Modi 2.0 cabinet and speculations around it:




Though there is an intense buzz that Shah, credited for crafting the political strategy for the BJP, may be part of the new government and be given a plum portfolio, there was no clarity yet on him making a ministerial debut at the Centre. There was also speculation that Shah might continue as BJP chief since Assembly elections in some key states are due to be held in the next one year.




Many BJP leaders are of the view that most key members of the previous Cabinet could be retained.




Senior members like Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Narendra Singh Tomar and Prakash Javadekar are likely to retain their place. Irani, who defeated Rahul Gandhi in his home turf of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh to earn the tag of giant killer, is expected to get a key portfolio.


A day before the swearing-in ceremony, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley wrote to Modi saying he does not want to be a minister in the new government on health grounds.




There have been indications that the new ministry will reflect BJP's rising strength in states like West Bengal, Odisha and Telangana.




As far as allies are concerned, both the Shiv Sena and the JD(U) are expected to get two berths (one cabinet and one MoS) each, while the LJP and the SAD may be given one berth each.




Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had a meeting with Shah on Wednesday and the two leaders are understood to have discussed JD(U)'s representation in the government




Lok Janshakti Party on Tuesday passed a resolution, recommending its president Ram Vilas Paswan as the party's representative in the Modi government.




The AIADMK, which was also not part of the previous government, won only one seat. It may be given a ministerial berth as it is in power in Tamil Nadu besides being a key Dravidian ally of the BJP.


Top opposition leaders including Congress President Rahul Gandhi and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, corporate honchos, film stars, chief ministers and a galaxy of leaders from BIMSTEC countries will be on hand to watch President Ram Nath Kovind administer the oath of office and secrecy to 68-year-old Modi and his ministerial colleagues at the forecourt of majestic Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The swearing-in ceremony was about 90 minutes long and after that a dinner will be served to around 40 dignitaries, including Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and the prime minister, besides leaders of all BIMSTEC countries, Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson Ashok Malik said Wednesday.

The prime minister visited Rajghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, at around 7.00 am. Later Modi went to Sadaiv Atal, the lotus-shaped memorial of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
