Lankan Navy apprehends eight TN fishermen

New Delhi [India], July 22 (ANI): The Sri Lankan Navy on Saturday apprehended eight Tamil Nadu fishermen and seized their boat near Delft Island.

As per reports, the Sri Lankan officers took the fishermen to the Kankesanthurai Naval camp for further investigation.

Last Sunday, four Indian fishermen were arrested for allegedly poaching in the Colombo territorial waters.

According to the Sri Lankan Navy, the Fast Attack Craft of the Northern Naval Command of Colombo arrested the fishermen about 9 Nm Northwest of Kovilan.

The fishermen were taken to the SLNS Elara, naval base and handed over to the Jaffna Assistant Fisheries Director for further legal action.

Earlier on June 13, at least seven Indian fishermen were reportedly arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy on for trespassing in their waters. (ANI)
