K'taka: Civil Aviation Minister inaugurates new terminal of Sambra Belagavi Airport

Belgaum (Karnataka) [India], September 15 (ANI): Union Minister for Civil Aviation P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju inaugurated the new terminal of the Sambra Belagavi Airport, on Thursday.

The Belagavi airport is located about 500 km from Bengaluru and 480 km from Mumbai.

The Belagavi (Sambra) airport runway expansion work is completed with all the taxiway edge light fittings, approach, threshold, and end light fittings.

"Six layers of roofing have been done here. This is acoustical and thermal roofing. It took 24 months for us to build this project," said Nilesh Yeole, Director of Harsh Construction Pvt Ltd.

An official of the Airport Authority of India, Sudhir Raheja, said that the terminal building has an area of 3,600 sq. m.

"There are six checking counters. It has all green features, which make it a very green airport. Very shortly, we should expect connectivity with Belgaum. We look forward to very-very momentous future connectivity and growth," Raheja told ANI.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Union Minister Anant Kumar were also present at the inaugural ceremony. (ANI)
