Himachal marks 71st foundation day, awards best performers
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], Apr. 15(ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday hoisted the Indian national at the Ridge Maidan here to mark the state's 71st foundation day.
On the occasion, personnel of state police, home guards, Services Selection Board (SSB) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets took out a parade. Traditional folk dances by various groups also dotted the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, the chief minister talked about women security and recalled various services that have been launched for their protection.
"Himachal was founded on April 15, 1948. The safety and security of the women and maintaining better law and order in the state has been the priority of the government since then," the chief minister said.
The chief minister also awarded the best performers in the field of administration, sports, health and social work.
Alpine skier Aanchal Thakur from Manali was awarded Himachal Gaurav Puruskar for being the only Indian who has won a medal in skiing.
Aanchal thanked the deities and congratulated people on the occasion of Himachal Day. She exhorted the youth of the state to opt for sports and said she would keep up the pride of Himachal. (ANI)
