G20 Summit: World leaders are in Delhi for the much-awaited 18th G20 summit which is taking place under India's presidency. The Union Ministers are tasked to welcome the Heads of States at the airport as they land in the national capital. However, videos of US President Joe Biden and Argentinian President Alberto Fernández arriving in Delhi have taken the internet by storm, and the reason is popular singer Ed Sheeran. Apparently, an Indian rendition of Ed Sheeran's 'Shape of You' could be heard in the background as the two leaders arrived at the airport.

Taking jibe over the incident, the Congress party has called it a moment of 'embarrassment'

Sharing the video on X, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate put out the lyrics of the songs and expressed surprise over welcoming foreign dignitaries with 'Shape of You by Ed Sheeran'.

"We are welcoming foreign heads of state with ‘Shape of you’ by Ed Sheeran?!?! Lyrics that follow ‘Grab on my waist and put that body on me.…I’m in love with your body. Last night you were in my room. And now my bedsheets smell like you’."

"Embarrassing at the least," she added.

The incident has sparked a meme fest on X with some netizens criticising the same.

A user said, "Ed Sheeran's Shape of You is part of our culture now? 🤷🏻‍♀️ If you sprinkle some "sa ni dha pa" over it like salt, it doesn't make it cultural either. 🤷🏻‍♀️"

"If "Shape of You" can be played to welcome Argentina's president, they can also play "Mangta hai to aaja Russia" for Russian delegates," said another.

A third said, "Hahahaha. Grab on my waist and put that body on me.” That’s a line from Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You, the song they played to welcome Argentina’s President at Delhi airport."

As for G20, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are giving the meet a miss. On Friday, Spanish President Pedro Sánchez said he would not be able to attend the summit as he tested positive for the Covid 19.
