New Delhi: India along with United States, Russia, Brazil, and Mexico are amongst the countries in which more than half of all global deaths due to the covid-19 pandemic has been reported on a seven-day average.


As per Reuters analysis, it took at least a time period of one year for the world to register 2.5 million deaths due to the coronavirus, whereas the next 2.5 million deaths were recorded in 236 days.


As per the Reuters tally, the global covid-19 death cases has surpassed the tally of 5 million on Friday, October 1, 2021.


The reason behind the surge in the worldwide covid-19 death cases has been due to the delta variant. The fatalities caused due to the variant has been mainly reported amongst the unvaccinated.

As per the data released by the Our World in Data, more than half of the world has yet to receive at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.


An average of 8,000 deaths was reported on a daily basis over the last week, thus accounting for five deaths every minute.


Meanwhile, India has reported 24,354 new Covid cases, 28,246 recoveries & 277 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per Union Health Ministry.


The total number of the covid-19 cases in India is 3,37,66,707, out of which, 2,75,224 are active cases, and 3,30,68,599 are recovered cases.


A total number of 4,48,339 deaths has been reported, while 89,74,00,000 people have received the vaccination.
