In the first part of Wellness Calendar, we talked about the wellness habits to be inculcated each month. It’s 2021 and we all have our learnings both on professional and personal fonts due to pandemic. We have realised that ‘Health is weath’, and our investments should be made in restoring this health. Here is a lowdown of wellness habits that should be part of our lives from July to December.

JULY – Grow your Greens

It's monsoons and the right time to start your greens. You are what you eat. The fruits and vegetables we buy from market is cultivated with pesticides, disinfectants and harmful chemicals.  However, being able to grow your own crop inside an indoor controlled environment, you can always be sure about the quality of the food you eat and serve. Hydroponic Farming equips you to grow your own crop and enjoy your nutrient rich meal from your own farm. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants in a soil-free base. The roots are immersed in water and nutrients, instead of soil. Plants You Can Grow. Variety ranges from vegetables like tomatoes, Lettuce, Cucumber, Kale, Spinach, Beans, Peppers, Capsicum Radish, Ginger, Peppermint and others.  Herbal plants like Chives and Basil can also be grown. Other most profitable crops to grow in a Hydroponic Farm are  Mint, Cannabis, strawberries and cabbage.

AUGUST Ayurveda – Back to Basics. We got lost somewhere in western medicine while the world is looking back to Ayurveda post the panedemic. Ayurveda is the science of life. It teaches you what to eat as per body Dosha and maintain the balance. Ayurveda stresses the need for prevention rather than cure and recommends harmony of the body, mind and soul for a perfect health. Proper care of the body is essential in balancing the three basic principles of the human body Vatha, Pitha and Kapha. Purifying and immunizing the body, reducing ageing processes, minimizing stress, slimming, beauty care etc. are all made possible by suitable Ayurvedic treatments. Ayurveda treatment consisting of therapies, exercises, adequate diet, herbal medicine, is given the conventional way with proper supervision and the right atmosphere.

September-Wellness Holidays

We all have witnessed how important is health restoration post Covid. Its time to twist your travel choice from just holidays  to wellness holidays.  At  Health Resorts or wellness retreats  in India, Ayurveda forms an intrinsic part of the wellness regime for the guests. From massages and specialized diet , the Ayurveda experience  has been designed keeping in mind the individual’s desire to heal, cleanse, relax and revitalize. Special programmes and customized packages under the qualified Ayurveda doctors and therapists in a pollution free healing environment and beautiful ambiences not only leads to rigorous toxic elimination but adds years to life with a rejuvenated and reenergised self.

October De-addiction

Being addicted to anything is not okay. Start this month by breaking one bad habit. As we are all aware of the saying “Too much of anything is bad”. We must use this month to start de-addict ourselves from anything that we feel we can’t do without. Addiction could range from something as simple as your morning tea/coffee to consumption of alcohol and smoking. There are ways to break addictions. Love yourself enough to stop damaging your present and future. You are alone responsible for your actions and the consequences that come along with them. So loving yourself is one of the key driving forces in helping get over the long drawn chain  of addictions or bad habits. Ayurvedic cigarettes and Ayurvedic drinks are one of the best support options too.

November – Food supplements

According to the tradition of Ayurveda, humans should be able to live 115 years of age and longer – happily and healthily. Stress, pollutants and the consumption of heavily processed foods, unorganic foods,  are all on the increase. These influences  overtax the body's ability to repair itself.  This needs consumption of health-promoting food supplements that are rich in antioxidants in our diet and vitamins and minerals we are deficient with. Invest in good quality supplements for a strong and disease free body. It should include  Antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E and selenium to relieve and strengthen the potential to repair itself.  Fishoil, probiotics, conction of peptides and collagen, plant based protein powder,  Vitamin D, Magnesium, Calcium, zinc, Iron, folate, Vitamin B-12 and others are very important too.

December Massage-Therapy Rituals

Winters arrive and skin needs special care. For all those who think massage is a luxury, it is a body need for longetivity and disease free body. Regular massage improves blood circulation, skin health, joint flexibility, destresses,  removes blockages, also triggers secretion of a natural anti depressant called serotonin.  Peace, reduced anxiety, calmer mind and body and good skin tone can be achieved through regular and religious body massage. Infact weekend  meditation and spiritual cleansing for internal body combined with weekly full body massages and chosen therapies should be a ritual to get ready with the same energy for the next week.

Lastly always remember that good habits are inculcated with efforts but then it lasts forever once a part of lifestyle.  Food is not what we eat from mouth, it is what we watch from eyes, hear from someone, smell through nose and that is how we feed our souls. Thus wellness has to be a lifestyle that encompasses our every single choice we make for living.
