Now, the Health Minister took to Twitter and shared the process of how Co-Win will facilitate the distribution of the vaccine.

  • Registration & verification of beneficiaries

  • Scheduling inoculation

  • SMS reminders for schedule & follow on dosage

  • Reporting Adverse Event Following Immunisation

  • e-Certificate post-vaccination

Co-WIN is the app that will be a one-stop platform for covid vaccination and will make the process easier for people to understand when and where they will be vaccinated.

The inoculation drive will start anytime soon after the regulator Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) approves a vaccine. The DCGI head, V G Somani, recently hinted that India is likely to have a COVID-19 vaccine "in the New Year". He talked about the efforts made by the Department of Biotechnology and said, "...probably we will have a very happy New Year with something in hand. That's what I can hint at."

The DCGI has to give final approval to Bharat Biotech’s vaccine candidate 'Covaxin' and Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine candidate for the process to start which will be the largest inoculation drive in the world.
