New Delhi: The Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan announced on Saturday that the recovery rate with reference to coronavirus  in the country has increased and gone upto 58 percent. According to information by ANI, the minister was said this during a meeting on Saturday where External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar & Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri were also present.

“Our recovery rate has gone above 58% and around 3 lakh people have recovered from #COVID19. Our mortality/fatality rate is near 3% which is very less. Our doubling rate has come down to near 19 days, which was 3 days before the lockdown,” said Vardhan during the meeting.

India recorded a massive spurt in the coronavirus cases with 18,552 new cases in the past 24 hours. The total coronavirus cases and have surpassed the 5-lakh mark and reached 5,08,953 including 1,97,387 active cases, 2,95,881 recovered. India raced past the 5 lakh mark just 6 days after the caseload recorded 4 lakh cases.

Maharashtra which leads as the worst affected state in the country reported a single-day record of 5,024 fresh cases taking the total count to 1,52,765. The state with the second-highest number of coronavirus cases Delhi recorded 3,460 fresh COVID cases in the last 24 hours. Globally, India stands in the fourth position as the country with high numbers of COVID 19 cases after Russia which has a total of 619,936 cases.

As cases continue to rise the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is also ramping up its testing capacities and plans to conduct 4 lakh tests per day.
