New Delhi: Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal, who won several hearts with his power-packed performance in ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, will essay the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in his biopic. The makers of the film had released the first look poster of Vicky Kaushal last year on social media. The uncanny resemblance of the ‘Sanju’ actor and Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw surprised the fans.

Vicky Kaushal has now paid a tribute to Sam Manekshaw on his death anniversary by sharing a new look from the film. The 'Masaan' actor posted a video offering tribute to the war hero on Twitter and Instagram.

He tweeted, “In remembrance of one of India's finest- Field Marshal #SamManekshaw. This journey is going to be very special with @meghnagulzar @RonnieScrewvala @RSVPMovies #BhavaniIyer @iShantanuS @bharatrawail.”



Meghna Gulzar, who is re-uniting with Vicky after 'Raazi', wrote, "In Remembrance of Field Marshal #SamManekshaw. An honour and an experience I am so looking forward to! With @vickykaushal09 as the inimitable soldier and gentleman.@RonnieScrewvala @RSVPMovies #BhavaniIyer @iShantanuS @bharatrawail.”

Sam Manekshaw, or Sam Bahadur led Indian to victory against Pakistan in 1971. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. His biopic is being produced by Ronnie Screwvala.

The 'Manmarziyaan' actor shared a new poster on social media along with the caption, "A huge honour and an even bigger responsibility. #FieldMarshalSamManekshaw."

Vicky Kaushal, last seen in 'Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship', had shared the first look from the biopic last year. "I feel honoured, emotional and proud of getting a chance to unfold the journey of this fearless patriot, the swashbuckling general, the first Field Marshal of India- Sam Manekshaw," the actor said in a statement.



On the professional front, Vicky has a couple of exciting projects in his kitty including 'Sardar Udham Singh' and 'Takht'. Shoojit Sircar's 'Sardar Udham Singh' is slated to hit the silver screens on January 15, 2021.
