New Delhi: The Union health ministry has written a letter to the states saying that covid vaccination centres can be kept open till 10 pm. In the letter, the health ministry stated that the Covid vaccination centres (CVC) can be kept open as per the requirement.


As of now, the vaccination centres remain open till 8 pm. The Centre told the states that the timing is not fixed, and the states can decide to keep CVC open according to the need.

The health ministry mentioned that the centres can remain open till 10 pm upon the availability of the doctors and if the infrastructure is adequate.


On behalf of many states, the Centre was told that there is an impression that 8 am to 8 pm is the final time of CVC. It is only after this the Centre wrote to the states clearing dilemma regarding the timings.


India has recorded 1,68,063 fresh Covid cases on Tuesday. On Monday, the country had recorded 1.79 lakh Covid cases. The number of active cases at present stands at 97,827.


Maharashtra is one of the worst-hit states reporting 33,470 new cases and eight deaths on Monday.


India recorded 428 new Omicron cases on Tuesday, taking the overall caseload to 4,461, according to the data by the health ministry. Of which 1,711 patients have been recovered or discharged.


Maharashtra recorded the maximum number of 1,247 Omicron cases, followed by Rajasthan 645, Delhi 546, Karnataka 479, Kerala 350 and Uttar Pradesh 275.


Around 9.68 lakh people were administered the third dose across the country on Monday after India rolled out the precautionary dose of Covid-19 vaccines to three priority groups — the elderly with comorbidities, healthcare workers, and frontline workers.
