New Delhi: The government on Wednesday said the cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 13 crore, adding there are 21,57,000 active cases in India currently i.e. twice the number of maximum active cases last year.


Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said more than 13 crore people have been vaccinated in the country so far, including 30 lakh doses administered in the last 24 hours.


He added that around 87 percent of health workers and 79 percent of front-line workers have received their first dose of the vaccines.

The Health Secretary said the vaccine manufacturers will have to provide 50 percent of their monthly doses to the Government of India while the remaining 50 percent can be distributed through other channels.


146 districts reported Covid-19 positivity rate of more than 15 percent while 274 districts reported case positivity between 5 percent and 15 percent.


According to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, 2,95,041 new Covid-19 cases were registered in the last 24 hours. Ten states, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan, report 76.32 percent of the new cases.

Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 62,097 followed by Uttar Pradesh with 29,574 while Delhi reported 28,395 new cases.
