Coronavirus India: India’s active cases are less that one-fourth of the overall positive cases recorded so far.
Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state with a total of 6,15,477 cases and 20,687 deaths.
Government has said that one of the three vaccine candidates would enter the third phase of the pre-clinical human trials by Wednesday

As per the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, a spike of 64,531 cases and 1092 deaths was reported in India, in the last 24 hours.
The Covid-19 tally in the country rises to 27,67,274 including 6,76,514 active cases, 20,37,871 discharged/migrated & 52,889 deaths, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. Also Read: Even Mild Case Of Covid 19 Can Provide Lasting Immunity Says New Study
On Tuesday, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan called the coronavirus situation in the country "reassuring", with the daily infection rate, as well as the fatality rate, having shown a downward trend in the last five days, however, a steep rise was recorded again on Wednesday.
"In the context of pandemic, this is a short time, but we must be satisfied that the results are showing. Both the parameters show a satisfactory situation but there is no reason for us to slacken our guard. We must be alert," he had said on Wednesday, analyzing data of the previous five days.
Active cases less than 1/4th of total tally
India’s active cases are less that one-fourth of the overall positive cases recorded so far. “An effectively implemented policy of "TEST,TRACK,TREAT" has ensured that the Active Cases are less than 1/4th of the total Covid-19 cases,” Ministry of Health has said.
Higher number of recoveries & declining fatality has shown that India's graded strategy has worked, it had said.

Vaccine hope:
Alluding to vaccine development in the country, government has said that one of the three vaccine candidates would enter the third phase of the pre-clinical human trials by Wednesday. However, they did not reveal the names of the vaccine.
India has currently three vaccine candidates for Covid-19 -- ChAdOx1, developed by Oxford University and manufactured jointly by the Serum Institute of India, Pune and AstraZeneca; Bharat Biotech's Covaxin, jointly developed with the Indian Council of Medical Research; and Zycov D by Zydus Cadila.
Worst-hit states:
Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state with a total of 6,15,477 cases and 20,687 deaths; followed by Tamil Nadu with 3,49,654 cases and 6,007 deaths. The southern state is followed by Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Bihar.
