New Delhi: India on Friday reported 5,921 fresh COVID-19 cases, 11,651 recoveries, and 289 deaths in the last 24 hours.


The new coronavirus infections, took the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,29,57,477, while the active cases dipped to 63,878.


According to the Union Health Ministry data, the death toll climbed to 5,14,878 with 289 fresh fatalities.






The daily COVID-19 cases have remained below one lakh for 26 consecutive days.


The active cases comprise 0.15 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate is at 98.65 per cent.


The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.63 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded as 0.84 per cent.


The number of people who have recuperated from COVID-19 increased to 4,23,78,721.


The cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive exceeded 178.55 crores.

Coronavirus Cases In Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi


 Kerala reported 2,190 new coronavirus cases and 254 virus-related deaths on Friday taking the total number of infected in the state to 65,08,845. The death toll rose to 66,012.


Of the deaths, three were reported in the last 24 hours, 72 were those which occurred in the last few days but were not recorded due to late receipt of documents and 179 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directions of the Supreme Court, the health department stated.


"Currently, there are 17,105 active COVID-19 cases in the state of which only 8.8 per cent are admitted to various hospitals in the state," the release mentioned.


Meanwhile, 3,878 people recuperated from the disease on Friday, taking the total recoveries in the state to 64,24,920.


Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Friday recorded 525 new coronavirus cases and nine pandemic-related deaths, the health department said.

The new cases included 206 Omicron variant infections, all reported from Pune city.

The state's COVID-19 case tally rose to 78,67,916, and the death toll reached 1,43,727.

So far, a total of 5,211 Omicron cases have been reported in the state. Of these, 4,629 patients have fully recovered, the health department stated.

There are now 4,476 active coronavirus patients in Maharashtra.

 On the other hand, Delhi on Friday reported 302 fresh COVID-19 cases and four deaths, while the positivity rate stood at 0.63 per cent.

With this, the national capital's case count increased to 18,61,189, while the death toll mounted to 26,134.

Delhi had on Thursday recorded 326 cases with a positivity rate of 0.77 per cent, and three deaths.

The number of daily cases in the national capital has been on the decline after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13.


Delhi had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6 per cent on January 14, the highest during the ongoing wave of the pandemic.
