Fresh COVID Cases In India Go Above 3,600 As Infections Continue To Surge In Delhi — Check Details

The surge comes as Coronavirus cases in Delhi continue to rise with the national capital recording 1,607 fresh infections on Friday.

New Delhi: India on Saturday reported 3,688 new coronavirus infections, 2,755 recoveries, and 50 deaths in 24 hours.

According to the Union health ministry data, India's infection tally rose to 4,30,72,176, while the active cases have risen to 18,684.

On Friday, India reported 3,377 new COVID infections 2,496 recoveries, and 60 deaths.

The ministry data updated at 8 am showed that the total recoveries were at 4,25,33,377, while the death toll climbed to 5,23,803 .

The active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remained at 98.74 per cent.

The country's daily COVID positivity rate was reported to be at 0.74 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 0.66 per cent.

188.89 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

Delhi Records Over 1,000 Fresh COVID Cases For Eight Consecutive Day, Positivity Rate At 5.28%

Coronavirus cases in Delhi continue to rise with the national capital recording 1,607 fresh infections on Friday, up from the previous day (1,490). Meanwhile, the city also saw two COVID-related deaths and 1,246 recoveries in the last 24 hours. 

With this, the positivity rate in the capital now stands at 5.28 per cent. 

Currently, 139 COVID-19 positive patients are hospitalised in Delhi, while number of COVID patients being treated in home isolation is at 3,863, health department data showed.

It was the eighth consecutive day that the capital recorded over 1,000 new cases in a day. The total number of recoveries has reached 18,48,526.

Overall COVID-19 tally in the national capital rose to 18,81,555 and the death toll was 26,174, the health bulletin stated.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Thursday said that though COVID-19 cases have increased in the capital, the situation is not serious as people are not developing severe disease and hospitalisation rate is low.

He attributed the low hospitalisation rate to vaccinations and naturally acquired immunity.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra recorded 148 fresh coronavirus cases on Friday, a bulk of them in Mumbai, while two more patients succumbed to the infection in the state. With this, Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally rose to 78,77,577, while the death toll increased to 1,47,842.

Among the 148 fresh coronavirus cases in Maharashtra, Mumbai recorded 93 COVID cases in 24 hours.
