New Delhi: Amid a raging second wave of Coronavirus in the country, several medical experts have recommended wearing two masks to prevent the risk of contracting the deadly virus. As pe several studies, double masking can prevent leakage of air and fit the contours of the face better.


In order to raise awareness about the same among the citizens, the Central government has released dos and don'ts for double masking.

DO's: 



  • As suggested by the experts, all the citizens should double mask which consist of a surgical mask and a double or triple layered cloth mask.

  • The mask should be pressed tightly on the nose bridge.

  • Ensure that breathing is not blocked.

  • Use Clean Mask. Make sure you wash cloth mask regularly.


DON’Ts: 



  • Do not pair two masks of same kind.

  • Do not wear same mask for two consecutive days.



Coronavirus cases are surging rapidly in states like Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Haryana, Odisha and Uttarakhand.


As per the latest data provided by the Union Health Ministry, India reported 3,66,161 fresh infections, 3,53,818 discharges and 3,754 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The total cases recorded since the outbreak in the country are 26,62,575. The death toll stands at 2,46,116 while the number of active cases of Coronavirus in the country are 37,45,237. Till date, 1,86,71,222 covid patients have recovered. 


On both -- May 7 and 8, India recorded more than 4,000 COVID-19-related deaths. Prior to May 7, the daily recorded deaths in the country never crossed the 4,000 mark.
