PS Plus Free Games Lineup Revealed For October: GTA Vice City Definitive Edition, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, More

PS Plus Extra and Deluxe users can get access to the new slate of free games starting next week.

PS Plus Extra and Deluxe subscribers will get a handful of free games to explore in the month of October, as part of Sony’s Game Catalog. Just like Xbox Game Pass, Sony updates the PlayStation Game Catalog with free titles every month, from in-house as well as third-party publishers. Grand Theft Auto has a reason to rejoice as the remastered version of one of the series’ most loved titles will be available for free in October. Users will also get access to a handful of Assassin’s Creed games, as well as the side-scrolling gem, Inside. 

It should be noted that the PS Game Catalog will be updated with the new free titles on October 18. Just like Xbox Game Pass, some earlier titles will be removed from the library as well, including the likes of Red Dead Redemption and SOMA. 

PS Plus Essential users will not be able to access the newly announced free games. However, they will still have access to October’s Essential free games lineup, which includes Hot Wheels Unleashed, Injustice 2, and Superhot.

Here’s a quick look at the free games that will be available starting October 18:

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City — The Definitive Edition

Accessible to both PS4 and PS5 users, GTA: Vice City’s definitive edition boasts a remastered experience, complete with high-res textures, enhanced lighting, increased draw distances, and stunning environmental upgrades. The definitive edition also brings the tried-and-tested GTA V-style controls and targeting to GTA: Vice City.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Another PS4 and PS5 title, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is set in a sprawling map of ancient Greece, filled to the brim with exciting naval battles, quests, and mythical monsters to slay. PS5 uses will get the added advantage of running the game at 60fps for some extra smooth gameplay.

The critically acclaimed platformer offers a fine mix of puzzles and nail-biting action. This is one of those games best enjoyed alone, in a dark room, with your headphones on.

PS Plus Deluxe users will also get some additional classic games from the previous PlayStation generations, including the likes of Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered, Yakuza 5 Remastered, Limbo, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and Everyday Shooter.
