Sony, the Japanese gaming giant, announced last month that it’d hike the prices of it PlayStation Plus annual plans “to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits” to the service. Now, the official India prices have been listed on the PlayStation website, registering an increase of nearly Rs 2,000. For those unaware, PS Plus is Sony’s answer to Xbox Game Pass, offering subscribers access to free games on the PS4 and the PS5, along with a handful of trials and member-exclusive store discounts.
As per the PlayStation website, the price of the PS Plus Essential 12-month plan has been hiked from Rs 2,999 to Rs 3,949.
PS Plus Extra 12-month plan has been hiked from Rs 4,999 to Rs 6,699.
Lastly, PS Plus Deluxe 12-month plan has been hiked from Rs 5,749 to Rs 7,599.
Current PS Plus members need not worry, as the updated pricing will only come into effect upon their next renewal, which will not happen before November 6. Nevertheless, it's important to note that any changes to membership features or alterations to your subscription, such as upgrades, downgrades, or extensions, will be subject to the newly established pricing framework.
PS Plus is a necessity for most online gaming experiences on both PS4 and PS5 consoles. This service is structured into three distinct tiers: Deluxe, Essential, and Extra. PlayStation Plus was developed by Sony as a response to the Xbox Game Pass, giving gamers the chance to enjoy a new game every month.
The Essential tier provides users with a collection of complimentary games on a monthly basis, along with substantial discounts on titles available through the PlayStation Store. Moving up to PS Plus Extra, subscribers gain access to everything offered in the Essential category, along with an extensive library of games for both PS4 and PS5 consoles. Finally, PS Plus Deluxe offers the ultimate value, including classic titles from the PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 eras, in addition to cloud-based streaming capabilities.
