New Delhi: God of War: Ragnarok, the much-awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed 2018 action-adventure title from Santa Monica Studio, has unveiled over 60 accessibility options that players can use to finetune the game to their needs. These options cover everything from basic modifications such as subtitle and caption improvements, to deeper customisations such as a high contrast mode. The addition of such accessibility options is a commendable move, as they not only make games more inclusive but can also offer players a hassle-free gameplay experience.
While The Last of Us Part II truly set the bar when it comes to accessibility options back in 2020, God of War: Ragnarok looks to continue the tradition. The game is set to release on the PS4 and PS5 sometime later this year, although an exact launch date has not been announced yet.
As per a blog post by Sony, God of War: Ragnarok will offer a diverse array of accessibility features. For starters, gamers can choose to play around with the subtitle and captions size, colours, view sound effect captions, and even blur or add colour to the subtitle background.
Interestingly, there will also be a direction indicator that will show where a “critical gameplay” sound is coming from. This can come in handy for players with hearing impairment when solving puzzle-based clues.
Players can remap their controllers to suit their playstyle. God of War: Ragnarok will also offer Touch Pad shortcuts for elements such as Navigation Assist, Spartan Rage, and Quick Turn.
God of War: Ragnarok’s high contrast mode will let players apply a layer of colour of their choice to in-game items, targets, enemies, and characters. Players can also choose to desaturate the background to increase the contrast even further. This mode can actually be incredibly handy for players to help highlight traversal paths and loot items for a more assisted gameplay experience.
Apart from the above, God of War: Ragnarok will add navigation assist, traversal assistance, and audio cues for on-screen interact prompts, unblockable attack rings, weapon swap notifications, and more.
