New Delhi: 'Laal Singh Chaddha,' Aamir Khan's last film, bombed at the box office, making less than 50 crore in its first weekend. Kareena Kapoor Khan also appeared in this Hindi remake of the 1994 Hollywood hit 'Forrest Gump,' directed by Advait Chandan. Actor Anupam Kher said that ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ wasn't a great film over a year after it was released in theatres.

When asked about the 'Boycott Bollywood' movement in an exclusive interview with ANI, actor Anupam Kher stated, “Laal Singh Chaddha was not a great film. If it were a great film then no power would've stopped it. Aamir Khan's PK worked really well. The point is that you need to accept the truth.”

Anupam believes that the "boycott Bollywood" campaign will not affect the success of a film. He said that the quality of a film, not the boycott campaign, would determine whether or not it was successful. Aamir Khan's ‘Laal Singh Chadha’ was the first film to be targeted for a boycott, then Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Brahmastra’ and SRK’s ‘Pathaan’.

Anupam went on to remark that everyone has the right to freedom of speech and that performers should have the courage to play out anything they are permitted to talk freely about.

The actor continued his discussion on the boycott Bollywood movement by saying, “I am not for boycott trends, not at all but you can't stop somebody from doing what they want. But if your product is good, it will find its audience. In fact, they will go with a vengeance. And the only way to kill this trend is to make brilliant work.”

On the work front, Anupam Kher will be next seen in ‘IB71’, which also stars Vidyut Jammwal. The actor will also appear in ‘Emergency’, starring Kangana Ranaut.
