New Delhi: Yami Gautam recently drew parallels between Bollywood and Hollywood, noting that Indians have a penchant for making a big deal out of small roles. In an interview, Yami said that she has been criticized for only appearing in cameo parts. She used the example of the film ‘Kaabil’ to show how the media had changed their tune about her years later.

Yami portrayed Supriya, Hrithik's on-screen wife in ‘Kaabil’. Yami told Galatta Plus in an interview, “I was called out sometimes, ki acha inka toh cameo hai ya chota role hain (I was called out and was told that I had a cameo or a small role in the film). Kaabil, I think that’s another film that I am so glad, that I got to be a part of that film… The audience loved it. And now, when journalists interact with me, they’re like, ‘You were so good in that film’. But, I say, ‘No, but that’s not what you wrote back then’.”

With a nod toward the West, Yami said, “I think it’s one of the few times when we should look at the West. Waha pe bade se bade actors (There, even the biggest stars), don’t shy away from doing roles and working with directors if they want to. They don’t care. They just come and do something amazing and leave. Here, we make it such a big deal.”

The actress has received a lot of accolades for her performance in her most recent two OTT films, ‘A Thursday’ and ‘Dasvi’.

Meanwhile, Yami is looking forward to many more interesting ventures, such as OMG 2 – Oh My God! 2, Dhoom Dham, Chor Nikalke Bhaga, and more undisclosed films that will be leaning on her shoulders in the near future.
