'West Just Don't Get It': BTS’ RM Reacts To People Saying ‘Korea Is Stressful’
BTS' Kim Nam-Joon known as RM said that Koreans nowadays work very hard to improve themselves.
New Delhi: The Korean pop music business is said to be one of the most stressful in the world. BTS leader RM was recently asked about the characteristics of South Korean culture. RM said that Koreans nowadays work very hard to improve themselves. He said that people in the West simply don't get it, comparing the present situation in Korea to that of seven decades ago.
RM said in an interview with El Pais, “People in the West just don’t get it. Korea is a country that has been invaded, devastated, torn in two. Just seventy years ago there was nothing. We were getting help from the IMF and the UN. But now, the whole world is looking at Korea. How is that possible, how did that happen? Because people are working f****** hard to improve themselves," quoted by Hindustan Times.
The rapper agreed with those who remark that living in Korea is ‘very stressful,' and said, "You are in France or the UK, countries that have been colonizing others for centuries, and you come to me with, "Oh God, you put so much pressure on yourselves, life in Korea is so stressful!'. Well, yes. That's how you get things done. And it's part of what makes K-pop so appealing. Although of course there are shadows, everything that happens too fast and too intensely has side effects."
The Korean boyband BTS is comprised of RM, Jin, SUGA, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook. In December of last year, BTS' eldest member Jin enlisted in the military. All of the other members are expected to enlist and serve in the military for a period of 18 months. Following their service commitment, BTS members will reunite as a group in 2025, according to a statement from BigHit Music, their management company.
Meanwhile, RM will next be seen working with the leader of SE SO NEON, So Yoon.
