In June 1997, 59 people died and 100 others were injured in the Uphaar Cinema tragedy, which happened when a fire engulfed the South Delhi movie theatre. Many people have had this incident permanently seared in their memories for almost 20 years.
Abhay Deol revealed a few details about his character in the series before the trailer was released.
“Possibly the hardest role I’ve ever had to portray. I’ve done true stories before but this one has to be the most tragic. A fire that left a trail of tragedies in its wake. Tragedies Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy had to deal with over the two-plus decades. Follow their journey in Trial By Fire,” he wrote on Instagram.
The limited series, directed by Prashant Nair and Randeep Jha, is set to stream on the OTT service Netflix. It will be released on January 13 and is based on the best-selling book 'Trial by Fire: The Tragic Tale of the Uphaar Fire Tragedy' by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy.
