New Delhi: Malaika Arora made her digital debut with 'Moving In With Malaika' on Monday. The show, which streams on Hotstar, gives fans access to her life through unfiltered conversation. In the first episode, Malaika revealed about his relationship with ex-husband Arbaaz Khan during a conversation with choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan.
Malaika recalled that she was the one who proposed to Arbaaz and got married because she wanted to get out of her house. She said, “I am the one who proposed to Arbaaz. Nobody knows. It was not Arbaaz who proposed to me. It was the other way around. I actually said, ‘I want to get married. Are you ready?’ Very sweetly he (Arbaaz) actually turned around and told me, ‘You pick the day and the place.’”
Farah replied, "Arbaaz is my sweetheart."
Malaika added, "I know how much you love him. He is a wonderful person. He let me be the person I am today. I feel a lot of me that I am today is also because of him because he let me be the person I am."
Malaika, who is currently in a relationship with Arjun, also spoke about her separation from Arbaaz. Malaika said, "We drifted. We were too young. I was very young. I think I also changed. I also wanted different things in life. Somewhere I felt that was missing in my space and I needed to move on. I felt the only way I could do that is if I could actually probably let go of certain ties. I think today we are better people. We love and respect each other for the people that we are. We have a child together. So that is something that will never ever change. But I feel we are far better people. Then, I think we were very irritable. Very irritable people. We became angry, negative people."
To this Farah pointed out that till Dabang things were fine between the couple but after that, even Farah saw the difference.
Malaika got emotional talking about the time she and Arbaaz decided on separation and started crying while Farah hugged her.
She also recalled the time when she met with an accident and went through surgery. The actor said that when she came out of the operation theatre on a wheelchair, the first person she saw standing out was Arbaaz.
Malaika and Arbaaz tied the knot in 1998. They announced their separation in March 2016 and officially got divorced in May 2017.
