Bollywood playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away in Kolkata on Tuesday night. An icon who almost every 90s kid from India would have known through some song or the other held a truly special place in many hearts. As condolences pour in on the sudden demise of KK from all quarters of the country, an interesting video of KK's debut song recording has caught the attention of fans on Facebook. In the video, we see KK recording his debut song 'Chhod Aaye Hum Voh Galiyaan' from Gulzar's critically-acclaimed film 'Maachis'.

In the video that a user shared on Facebook, we see KK singing this iconic track from 'Maachis' with veteran lyricist and filmmaker Gulzar sitting outside the recording studio. After a moment, we see KK stop and Gulzar praise the singer for his talent.

'Maachis' was also directed by Gulzar.

Although many credit 'Tadap Tadap Ke Is Dil' from the film 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' as his Bollywood debut song, it was in fact 'Chhod Aye Hum' from Gulzar's 'Maachis' which was the singer's debut track in Bollywood. Nonetheless, it was with 'Tadap Tadap...' that KK came into limelight and earned it him a reputation he truly deserved.

KK recorded songs in several languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Odia and Bengali among others. He was also the recipient of many accolades including the Filmfare Awards.

KK or Krishnakumar Kunnath died of a cardiac arrest after a concert organized by a college at Nazrul Mancha in south Kolkata where he performed for almost an hour on Tuesday evening.

He was "feeling heavy" after reaching his hotel, and soon collapsed, officials told news agency PTI. The singer was taken to Kolkata's CMRI Hospital.

"KK was brought to the hospital around 10 pm. It's unfortunate that we could not treat him," a senior official of the hospital told PTI.

The singer was 53, and survived by his wife and two sons.
