Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-starrer Tiger 3 was released on Sunday, November 12 when the country was busy with the Diwali preparations. This decision by Yash Raj Films stirred some controversies as Sunday is considered a weak day for releases. YRF, however, clarified that their confidence in Salman Khan's stardom and their focus on the film's overall lifetime performance outweigh concerns about the opening day figures.
Despite the unconventional release day, 'Tiger 3' surprised everyone with a grand opening, grossing Rs 94 crore worldwide on its first day, with a domestic Gross Box Office Collection (GBOC) of Rs 52.50 crore alone.
The film continued to perform well on its second day, collecting Rs 59.25 crore in India nett on Monday, the film has performed well on the third day also and has collected Rs 37.75 crore on the third day, as per the early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk.com. The numbers can go up and can reach up to Rs 40 crore after the figures get updated.
Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Pathaan', the previous installment in the YRF Spy Universe had recorded Rs 23 crore on its first Tuesday in theaters. Additionally, other major hits this year, Atlee Kumar’s 'Jawan' and Anil Sharma’s 'Gadar 2', earned Rs 26 crore and Rs 55.4 crore on their respective first Tuesdays.
Talking about the film, trade analyst Taran Adarsh had tweeted, "The roar is back… Tiger3 is the biggest dhamaka you can expect this Diwali… Excellent second half, solid action pieces, superb cameos and of course, a ferocious #SalmanKhan. Tiger3Review"
'Tiger 3', the fifth installment in the YRF Spy Universe and a sequel to 'Tiger Zinda Hai' (2017), stars Emraan Hashmi, Revathi, Simran, and Riddhi Dogra in key roles.
