Several regions in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh experienced substantial rainfall attributed to the monsoon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for intense rainfall in Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on November 14. The alert follows the formation of a Low Pressure Area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjacent Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which is expected to intensify into a Depression over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal on November 15, while moving west-northwestwards. 



IMD has also sounded an orange alert for heavy to very heavy with extremely heavy rainfall in Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on November 14.


Taking to X, IMD said, "A Low Pressure Area formed over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adj. Andaman & Nicobar Islands at 0530 hrs IST and lay over the same region at 0830 hrs IST today. Likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a Depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal on 15th November."


"Thereafter, it would move northwestwards and may intensify into a Deep Depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast on 16th November. Subsequently, it would recurve north-northeastwards and reach Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast on 17th November," it said.


 







Tamil Nadu & Puducherry


> Waterlogging reported in parts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu amid heavy rainfall in the region.






> With educational institutions closed in several districts in Tamil Nadu due to heavy rains, State Disaster Management Minister KKSSR Ramachandran said, "The State Government has taken all precautionary measures. The situation is under control. The respective district administrations are taking proper measures to face the rains."


> On rainfall alert in Tamil Nadu, S. Balachandran, Scientist 'G' and Deputy Director General of Meteorology, Regional Meteorological Centre, said, "Today morning, a low pressure formed over the south-east Bay of Bengal... It is likely to move in a north-west direction... Under the influence, in the last 24 hours, rainfall occurred in many places... About seven stations had very heavy rainfall, and 31 stations recorded heavy rainfall.”


 






“In the next two days, districts that are along the coastal regions are likely to experience moderate rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places... Fishermen are advised not to venture into the southern parts of the Bay of Bengal, the west-central Bay of Bengal, or the Andhra coast. In Chennai, moderate rainfall is likely to occur tomorrow," he said.

> Heavy rains lash coastal and delta districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Velankanni leads the charts with 17cm of rain, followed by Nagapattinam (15cm), Karaikal (14cm), Nannilam (12cm) and Cuddalore (12cm).

Andhra Pradesh


> The weather department said parts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema are expected to receive heavy rainfall on Tuesday. 


> IMD said, "Light to Moderate Rain likely at one or two places over NCAP & Yanam. Light to Moderate Rain or Thundershowers likely at few places over SCAP and Rayalaseema."


Telangana


In Hyderabad, IMD said that the sky will remain partly cloudy and mist/haze weather will prevail during morning hours for the next five days.
