New Delhi: Rajan Shahi, renowned for his directorial work on the iconic television show ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, has stirred controversy with revelations about actress Hina Khan's departure from the TV show. According to the director-producer, Hina Khan allegedly faced termination from the show due to behavioural issues on set. While Rajan commended Khan's dedication, he expressed frustration over her behaviour, citing tantrums and script interference as primary concerns.
In a candid interview with Telly Talk India, Rajan Shahi recounted a particular incident where Hina Khan refused to deliver lines supporting co-star Shivangi Joshi's character, Naira.
He shared, “One day, the shoot was going on and Hina didn’t want to say some lines that were in support of Shivangi Joshi’s character Naira. There was a certain level of script interference where Hina refused to say those lines. That day I told her she would have to do the scene as it was, when she didn’t agree I told her to either shoot or leave the set.”
Furthermore, Rajan Shahi elaborated, “She sat down the whole day, I said, ‘You leave the set if you don’t want,’ she said, ‘I will not leave.’ So, she remained in the makeup room from 9 AM to 9 PM. When she left at 9 PM, Vivek Jain messaged her saying, ‘Though there was another month remaining for our contract, your services are terminated, please do not come on the set.”
According to Rajan, he decided to inform the channel three days after the event. He also instructed his staff to remove any footage Hina had filmed.
Hina Khan left ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ in 2016.
