New Delhi: 2018 saw the launch of several reality shows on the small screen; while some topped the TRP charts, others failed to strike a chord with the viewers. Although, the channels didn’t experiment much with new concepts this year, some of the shows stood out from the rest. While big ticket reality shows like Bigg Boss 12 and Dus Ka Dum 3 failed to impress, KBC and IGT continued to grab eyeballs.


Here’s a look at some of the top reality shows of 2018!

Indian Idol 10

Indian Idol 10 proved to be one of the successful reality shows in 2018. Despite facing competition from ‘Naagin 3’ at the weekend 8pm slot, the singing based show continued to do quite well on the TRP charts. The show, which was judged by Neha Kakkar, Javed Ali and Vishal Dadlani, was won by Salman Ali. Javed Ali had replaced the show’s original judge Anu Malik after he was asked to leave owning to #MeToo allegations against him.

Dance Deewane

Colors TV experimented with a dance reality show in 2018 and introduced Dance Deewane. The show gave a platform to three different generations to showcase their dancing skills to the rest of the world. Seven-year-old Alok Shaw won the show which was judged by Madhuri Dixit, Shashank Khaitan and Tushar Kalia.

Kaun Banega Crorepati 10

Kaun Banega Crorepati 10, which hit the airwaves on September 3, kept the viewers hooked on to their television sets with its informative episodes. Amitabh Bachchan’s charm and his camaraderie with the contestants made the show a must-watch. The quiz based show gave intense competition to the other daily soaps on rival shows.

Rising Star 2

The second season of the popular singing reality show was applauded by the viewers. Rising Star is the first reality show in India where audience could vote live for their favorite contestants. The show was judged by the trio of Shankar Mahadevan, Monali Thakur and Diljit Dosanjh. Hemant Brijwasi won the second season of the show.

Dance Plus 4

Dance shows did very well this year. Dance Plus 4, which started from October 4, is doing quite well on the ratings front. Shakti Mohan and Punit Pathak are the mentors on the show while popular director-choreographer Remo D’Souza is the super judge on Dance Plus 4. The show airs on Star Plus.

India’s Got Talent 8

The eighth season of the talent hunt show returned after a year gap in 2018 and managed to impress the viewers. Although, IGT 8 couldn’t set the TRP charts on fire, the contestants won millions of hearts with their acts. The show was won by magician Javed Khan. Karan Johar, Malaika Arora and Kirron Kher were the judges while Bharti Singh hosted the show.
