New Delhi: The Government of India has decided to ban 59 Chinese apps including TikTok, UC Browser and Shareit. Several TV celebs including Nia Sharma, Kushal Tandon, Kamya Panjabi and Manveer Gurjar have lauded the government’s move to ban the Chinese app. There has been an ongoing debate on the quality of content in the TikTok videos. The hashtag #TikTok trended on Twitter after netizens shared jokes and hilarious memes on the micro-blogging site.

Popular TV actress Nia Sharma aka Brinda of ‘Naagin 4’ said that TikTok shoud ‘never be allowed again’. She tweeted, “Thank youu for saving our country. This Virus named Tik tok should never be allowed again!”

Who can ever forget Carry Minati’s ‘YouTube vs TikTok’ video? ‘Bigg Boss 10’ winner Manveer Gurjar took a dig at the TikTokers in his tweet.



'Unlock' actor Kushal Tandon and 'Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki' actress Kamya Punjabi also hailed government's decision to ban the app.





Music composer Vishal Dadlani tweeted, "Banning Apps is to China, what Taali/Diyas were to Coronavirus."

The government decided to ban the 59 Chinese apps including Baidu map Mi Community, Club Factory, WeChat, UC News, Weibo, Xender over national security concerns.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology issued a statement, which read, "These measures have been undertaken since there is credible information that these apps are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order."
