New Delhi: An FIR has been lodged with the Mumbai police against Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's producer, Asit Modi, as well as the show's operation head, Sohail Ramani, and executive producer, Jatin Bajaj. Last month, Jennifer Mistry filed a complaint against the film's producer, Asit Kumarr Modi, as well as two other staff members. However, no one has been arrested. As a response to the allegations, Asit Kumar issued a statement in which he refuted all of the charges and dismissed the reports.
The Powai Police have filed a complaint against Asit Kumarr Modi under sections 354 and 509 (Assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to insult her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
On Tuesday evening, Asit Kumar said that he had already provided his statement to the police. In an interview with a vernacular channel, the producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah said, "I deny all allegations and have given my statement to the police. I am not aware if FIR is registered. In any case, the matter is under investigation, hence no further comments."
Earlier, Mumbai Police had stated, "Powai Police recorded the statement of the actor in connection with her sexual harassment allegations against Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's producer Asit Kumarr Modi and two other members of the crew. The Police will also summon Asit Kumarr Modi soon for his statement."
While this was going on, Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who played Mrs Roshan Sodi, in the comedy show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmaah’ left the show. After leaving the show after 15 years, she said that the show's producer, Asit Kumarr Modi, had treated her badly, both mentally and sexually. She also said that Sohail Ramani and Jatin Bajaj harassed her at work.
