New Delhi: Colors TV’s popular show ‘Roop-Mard Ka Naya Swaroop’, which was launched last year in May, is all set to bid adieu to the viewers, if a recent report in a leading daily is to be believed. The show starring Shashank Vyas and Donal Bisht is doing a decent job in terms of TRPS, despite competition from ‘Ishq Subhan Allah’ and ‘Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke’.
Speculations are rife that the show will go off air in the second week of May. The star cast of the show has been informed about the development, the report said.
“Though the show has a unique storyline, it couldn’t rake in the expected ratings. We have been informed that the show will end in the second week of May,” a source told Times Of India.
Shashank Vyas, who plays the role of titular role of Roop, told the daily that he was not aware of any such development.
‘Roop-Mard Ka Naya Swaroop’ was launched with much expectations on May 28, 2018 but it could not set the TRP charts on fire. The show initially aired at the 9pm slot but was shifted to the 10pm slot to accommodate Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 12.
The show focused on the story Roopendra aka Roop who fought against the patriarchal norms of society. The daily soap also features Yash Tonk, Vaishali Thakkar and Mitaali Nag in key roles.
Colors TV has several other shows in pipeline and it remains to be seen which new show will replace ‘Roop’. Juhi Parmar starrer ‘Tantra’ also went off air earlier this month. 'Udaan' and 'Vish Ya Amrit: Sitara' are also under the scanner.
Divyanka Tripathi and Karan Patel starrer ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ will also face the axe on Star Plus in June.
