New Delhi: Shark Tank India Season 2 is already an audience favourite. In the latest episode of the show, where pitchers get a chance to ask investors or sharks to invest in their business, we saw a former teacher Poonam Kasturi win hearts with a no-nonsense attitude of hers. Poonam Kasturi pitched her brand Daily Dump- India's first compost-making company to the sharks who though impressed by her business plan were not very willing to invest.
When Aman Gupta asked her if the compost bins are smelly, she nonchalantly answered that that was one of the most common questions she was asked and that she tried to avoid skeptics when pitching her products. That was why, she said, that she tried to pitch her products to those who wish to work for the environment and with kids in general. On hearing this, all the sharks were in splits.
Then, Anupam asked what the problem was with wet waste getting into landfills. When Poonam asked him, "Do you know how much water is in wet waste?” Anupam said he did not know and that's why she needed to tell him. On this, Vineeta jokingly remarked that there was finally something that Aman did not know.
Soon after, it was Vineeta's turn to get pulled up. When holding a packet of detergent in her hand, she asked if it contained the same reetha used for her, Poonam replied that yes it was and could very well be used for washing clothes as it did not contain toxic chemicals, the kind Vineeta works with.
"Kyuki toxic chemicals hum ghar me leke aate hain. Aapko toh pata hi hai… aap usi mein kaam karte hain;" this left all other sharks in splits and Peyush commented that,“This feels like a classroom.” Aman said, “It's confirmed that you were indeed a teacher.” Namita said, “Poonam Ji, when founders come here, they are usually very nervous, intimidated by the sharks. Yahan toh aapne har. ekshark ki class leli hai. Congratulations for that."
Finally, as the other four sharks opted out to invest in her brand, Namita agreed to ₹30 lakh for 4% equity and ₹50 lakh debt at 10% interest.
