Pratysha's former maid revealed some shocking details to Mumbai police recently. According to a report published in Mid Day: Pratyusha Banerjee frequently borrowed small sums of money from her house help for buying medicines or to hire a cab. Renu Sinha, who worked for Pratyusha for three months and lived in the same house, said she had seen bruises suffered by the actor after fights with fiance Rahul Raj Singh.

The 34-year-old former domestic help of the actress, told mid-day on Saturday that Pratyusha's mother and Rahul fought with her frequently to gain control of her finances.
Renu began working as a maid at the actress' residence in Kandivli in December last year and followed her when she moved to Goregaon. She, however, quit the job on March 20, just days before the alleged suicide on April 1, because a hard-up Pratyusha couldn't afford to pay her salary.

"I grew close to Pratyusha after her mother was packed away from Mumbai since Rahul did not like her presence in the house. Pratyusha's mother had asked me to keep an eye on her daughter. She used to call me 'didi," said Sinha. "At odd hours in the night, I used to hear raised voices from the couple's room. I wanted to rescue Pratyusha but didn't know if it was right to interfere in a private matter between them. Whenever Rahul left home, I would coax Pratyusha into telling me everything. She spoke of Rahul accusing her of having an affair with her former boyfriend," added Sinha.

Pratyusha used to cook and clean for Rahul as she was in love with him. "I was also a witness to the incident where Rahul's ex-girlfriend stormed into the flat and hit the couple, raining choicest of abuses," said Sinha. "Pratyusha gradually learnt of Rahul's past including his previous marriage. She was terrorised by Rahul. He wouldn't let her do things she loved, like eating out and watching movies. He kept postponing plans to tie the knot with her," said Sinha.
"Rahul disliked her parents so much that he even blocked her parents' numbers on Pratyusha's cellphone," said Renu.
The former maid also revealed that the actress regretted that she was the only unmarried person in her gang of friends. "Meri sari friends ki shaadi ho gayi, sirf mein hi bachi hoon," Pratyusha once confided in with her maid. "She wanted to marry Rahul at any cost and spend her entire life with him
Saxena said Pratyusha was planning to start a small travel agency and needed Rs 4 lakh for the venture. "She didn't want to work in the industry anymore; she just wanted a peaceful life as a homemaker." She believed that Rahul's failure to commit to a wedding date was the trigger for Pratyusha's alleged suicide. The Goregaon police have recorded Pratyusha's ex-maid's statement.
