New Delhi: The popular sitcom 'Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain' recently completed 2000 episodes. Many cast members of the show, which started in March 2015, have been replaced, including female leads Shilpa Shinde and Saumya Tandon. Aasif Sheikh and Rohitash Gaud, mail leads of the show, have been part of the show since its start. Recently, in an interview, Aasif said that the actors who’ve left the show are “not missed”.
In an interview with ETimes, the actor said neither the team nor the audience misses the old cast members. "Nobody misses anyone. I am sorry nobody misses people who have left the show. People who have joined in now, the audience love them and appreciate them. I strongly feel that in Bhabi Ji no artist is indispensable. Our content is so strong that they watch the show for the substance. Artists are definitely important but nobody is indispensable. I will say the same thing about myself. I get a lot of messages from fans that they will stop watching the show after I leave but I know that nothing of this is going to happen. Audience will watch the show and it doesn’t matter if I am there or not. People don’t watch the show for an artist they watch it for the content,” he was quoted as saying by ETimes.
He also said that when the show started, everyone thought it would not last more than six months. “We had never imagined that Bhabi Ji would run for 8 years and would complete 2000 episodes. In fact, when the show started it was the first fiction comedy show on an Indian GEC, and everybody thought that this show won’t last for more than 6 months,” he told ETimes.
The actor also shared that the show has a loyal fan base and they also share their feedback which is taken very seriously by the sitcom’s team.
Shilpa Shinde left the show in 2016 and Shubhangi Atre replaced her as Angoori Bhabhi. In 2020, Saumya left the show and was replaced by Neha Pendse. Neha also quit the show in 2022 and Vidissha is currently essaying the role of Anita Bhabhi.
