New Delhi: Without a doubt, ‘Mahabharat’ is one of the most-watched television programmes in India. The mythical show's epic tale and characters continue to win fans even after all these years. BR Chopra's ‘Mahabharat’ star Gufi Paintal, who portrayed Shakuni Mama, is in critical condition and hospitalised. His nephew Hiten Paintal confirmed the news about the actor’s health. Later, actress Tinaa Ghaai, a friend of Gufi, posted a message on social media asking for prayers for his quick recovery.


According to media reports, Gufi's health has been declining for quite some time, but things took a turn for the worst on May 31. After then, he was rushed to the hospital.


His nephew Hiten Paintal told PTI, "He had blood pressure and heart issues. He was keeping unwell and all this was going on for a while. Things got severe now so we got him to the hospital for observation. He has been in the hospital for seven to eight days. He was critical initially, but right now he is stable."


On Instagram, Tina Ghai shared a post concerning Gufi Paintal's health. She also requested fans to offer prayers for his recovery. She wrote, "#GufiPaintal ji #Takleef mein hain #prarthana ki jeeye. (Gufi Paintal ji is in pain, please pray for him.)"






Tina later verified the news to the media, but she didn't provide many specifics about the actor's condition since his family has been unwilling to discuss it. 


Gufi Paintal is not only a talented actor but also a director. His epic ‘Mahabharat’ TV series, which was first broadcast in the late '80s, has been his lasting legacy. His other works such as ‘Rafoo Chakkar’, ‘Des Pardes’, ‘Dillagi’, ‘Maidan-E-Jung’, and ‘Daava’ are also highly regarded.
