New Delhi: Actor Arvind Kumar, known for playing Chaurasia in the sitcom Lapataganj, passed away on July 11 due to a heart attack. Actor Rohitashv Gour, who played the lead in the show, confirmed the news and also revealed that he was under financial stress. He was reportedly on his way for a shoot when he suffered the attack and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Rohitashv confirmed the news to Indian Express and said, “Yes, he passed away two days back, and it’s unfortunate news. After Lapataganj ended, we used to talk on the phone. He died of a heart attack and he was very stressed because of finances.”

The actor also shared that Kumar was facing tough times since Covid like many other actors and didn’t get work. “He used to talk to me about it because after the pandemic, things became very difficult for actors, and he was also struggling. No one comes forth to help actors in such tough times. I am lucky that I got work. Stress is what causes heart attacks. His family was in the village so I never spoke to them or met them,” the actor says,” he was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

Rohitashv also shared that he and his friends plan to financially support Arvind Kumar’s family in the village.

Last year, another co-actor of Rohitashv Gour, Deepesh Bhan had passed away due to a heart attack, survived by his wife and an 18-month-old son.  After his sudden demise, his wife Megha faced the challenge of repaying the home loan of Rs 59 lakh that he had taken to purchase their house. The loan was paid off after television actor Saumya Tandon raised a fund for it and other tv actors contributed to it.

Arvind’s wife shared a post on the actor’s Facebook page confirming the untimely death of the actor.
