New Delhi: Zee TV’s popular show ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ has been entertaining the viewers for the past four-and-a-half years with its drama-packed episodes. The show starring Sriti Jha and Shabbir Ahluwalia is all set to take a generation leap and the makers have roped in MTV Splitsvilla 10 winner Naina Singh and ‘Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan’ fame actress Mugdha Chaphekar to play Abhi and Pragya’s twin daughters in the show. Post the leap, the track of KKB will focus on Abhi, Pragya and their daughters.

Interestingly, the twins will be separated after birth, giving a new dimension to the story. Mugdha will play the role of Prachi while Naina will essay the character of Rhea in ‘Kumkum Bhagya’. Both the sisters will be poles apart from each other in terms of personality.

Mugdha and Naina have already started shooting for the show and the first look of the two actresses is out on social media.

Mughda, who was also part of Zee TV’s ‘Satrangi Sasural’, said that her character is of a simple girl, who is just like her mother.

“I am making a comeback on Zee TV after 4 years and what better way to start a new journey than the extremely popular show Kumkum Bhagya. I have been an ardent follower of the show and I am glad that I am going to be a part of it. Prachi’s character is of a simple girl who is simple, sensitive and responsible much like her mother and puts her family before everything. I hope that the audience enjoy the new twist,” Mugdha Chaphekar said in a statement.

Naina Singh will be making her fiction debut with ‘Kumkum Bhagya’. She had earlier participated in Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty’s show India’s Next Superstar

“This is the first time I am foraying into fiction television and while I am excited, I am also in a frenzy as its completely a new space for me. Naina is a complete brat born with a silver spoon. The story ahead will be filled with many twists and turns, and drama and I am looking forward to it,” Naina said in a statement.

Talking about the new generation male lead, ‘Roadies’ fame Krishna Kaul has been given the nod by Ekta Kapoor and the channel.

The current actors of the show including Mishal Raheja, Leena Jumani and Shikha Singh will bid adieu post the generation leap. Fans are unhappy with the leap as they don't want to see their favorite actors Sriti and Shabir in the role of parents to grown-up kids. They have voiced their opinion on social media.
