Talking about his character in 'Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala', Romit Raj told a leading daily that, "I play a school dean, who is smart and dashing. It’s a layered and challenging character."
'Kullfi Kumar Bajewala' will mark Romit Raj's return to daily soaps after a long gap of three years. Speaking about the same, he reveals that the content on TV isn't to exciting currently. He said, "I have been declining mythological shows for the longest time, and also those which have silly stories. Most daily soaps are boring, and there will be good content only when broadcasters hire young and fresh minds. Generally, creative think-tanks from one channel are moving to the other and as a result, the same ideas get passed on. I have also done films and on a movie set, the team is well organised. Everyone knows that they have limited time to complete the project. On the other hand, for people working on TV shows, it’s just about giving one day’s footage for telecast. They alter the original storyline if the ratings drop and also the track of a character."
He further told TOI that, "Unfortunately, not enough freedom is given to writers and creative people on the small screen. The channel wants to play safe, and every show looks similar."
Well, he's now back on TV and the news will make his fans super-happy.
Speaking about the current track of 'Kullfi Kumar Bajewala', actor Mohit Malik is playing the double role of Sikandar's imposter 'Chandan' as well as 'Bhola' (real Sikandar who has lost his memory in accident and is now behaving like a kid). 'Bhola' has enrolled himself into a music school to get good teaching in music will kick-start and that's where Romit Raj's character 'Vikram' will be seen in the show.
On the career front, Romit Raj made his TV debut with much-loved Star Plus show 'Shaka Laka Boom Boom' opposite Jennifer Winget and went on to do shows like 'Hatim', 'Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann', 'Maayka', 'Adaalat' among others and his last daily soap was SAB TV's 'Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi...Let's Go' opposite Srishty Rode which went off-air in 2016. Post which, he only did episodics for 'Fear Files' and 'Kaun Hai?'.
