New Delhi: Remember the child artist Richa Bhadra, who played the role of Chakki Parekh in Star Plus’ popular show ‘Khichdi’? The beautiful actress is fondly known for essaying the character of the lovable Chakki in the comedy show co-starring Surpriya Pathak, Rajeev Mehta and Anang Desai. Richa later went on to do comedy shows like ‘Baa Bahu aur Baby’ and ‘Mrs. Tendulkar’. Her fans have been wondering why she didn’t do many shows on the small screen.

Richa, while talking to a leading daily, said that she quit acting because of casting couch.  The actress revealed that post her marriage, she did audition for some shows but few people asked her to compromise.

“I came across a casting director who said, ‘Keep me happy and I will give you work.’ He wanted to meet me at a hotel when I suggested meeting at a coffee shop. That was the end to all my aspirations which I had in the industry. I didn’t want to ruin the image which I had built as a child actor,” Richa told Times Of India.

Richa also said that she was body-shamed several times and even show makers asked her to lose weight or do roles of a fat girl,.

"I have constantly been told, “Oh you are too chubby!” This is how I am, this is my body structure. Often I have been offered roles of a ‘fat girl’ as per the script’s demand. I don’t want that tag. I have been told to lose weight if I want to act. I don’t want to lose weight only to be a part of the industry,’’ the actress told the daily.

Richa even said that she was born in a guarded Gujarati family and they didn’t wish to see her expose or romance on-screen. So, she decided to not take up any new projects.

On the personal front, Richa tied the knot with businessman Vivek Gupta in 2017.
