KBC 16: Amitabh Bachchan is back with the latest season of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' (KBC). The first episode of the 16th season premiered on Monday. Following the 'Fastest Fingers First' round, Bengaluru's Utkarsh Baxi secured his spot as the first contestant this season on the 'hot seat.' He stumbled on a question related to the Mahabharata, missing out on a chance to win Rs 25 lakh.

Rs 25 lakh question for Utkarsh

The question that Utkarsh failed to answer was: According to the Mahabharata, which God presented a garland to Amba, declaring that the person who wears it would be destined to kill Bhishma? The choices were Lord Shiva, Lord Kartikeya, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Vayu.

Utkarsh opted to use the 'Video Call a Friend' lifeline, seeking assistance from a friend who confidently suggested Lord Shiva as the correct answer. Utkarsh then employed the 'Double Dip' lifeline, which grants two attempts to answer the question, though it eliminates the option to quit. His first choice was Lord Shiva, which turned out to be incorrect. His second guess, Lord Vayu, was also wrong, costing him the chance to win Rs 25 lakh.

Right answer to the question

Amitabh Bachchan then explained, "Lord Kartikeya, after rigorous penance, appeared in front of Amba in his six-faced avatar and presented her with a garland. He said whoever wears it will be able to kill Bhishma. Since nobody was ready to do it, he threw it on a pole. Later, when Amba was reborn as Shikhandi, she wore the garland and killed Bhishma."

Utkarsh left the game with Rs 3.20 lakh.

What's new in KBC 16

The new season has many new elements. This season will feature a new segment called the 'Super Sawaal'. This special segment, appearing after the fifth question, allows contestants to double their prize money without lifelines, adding a high-stakes twist to the game.
