New Delhi: Sony SAB's 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' is one of the most popular shows on the small screen. The sitcom enjoys a significant fan following across different age groups. At a time when shows go off air within six months 'Taarak Mehta' is entertaining the viewers since the past thirteen years.

Gossip mills are buzzing with the rumours that Raj Anadkat, who plays the role of Tapu Gada, might quit the show. According to a report in Koimoi, the actor is not willing to stay for too long in the show. While Raj has refrained from addressing the rumours, sources close to the show told the portal that things aren’t working between him and the team.

“The journey has been bittersweet with Raj. There have been multiple times that the team has tried to make amends with him but things aren’t working out anymore. Neither is he willing to stick for too long nor the cast and crew is keen on asking him to stay,” a source was quoted as saying by Koimoi.

Raj Anankat replaced Bhavya Gandhi as the new Tapu in 2017. He earned a significant following after playing the role of Dilip Joshi's on-screen son. Bhavya, who played the role of Tapu for nine long years, left the show in search of greener pastures.

'Taarak Mehta' producer Asit Modi, while talking to the entertainment portal, said that he was clueless about Raj's exit from the show. "I have no idea," he said.

'TMKOC', which was launched in 2008, has seen several replacements over the past few years. Despite the exit of the actors, the sitcom has continued to perform well in terms of TRPs. 'Taarak Mehta' is the second daily running show which has crossed the 3000-episode mark. Star Plus' 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' is the first show to achieve the milestone.
