New Delhi: Gufi Paintal, best known for portraying the role of Shakuni Mama in 'Mahabharat' has passed away. The veteran passed away in a hospital in Mumbai. Gufi Paintal's nepher Hiten Paintal confirmed the news of his demise. The actor passed away due to age-related ailments which he had been batlling for quite some time.


Gufi Paintal has been hospitalised some 10 days ago and had been in the ICU for treatment since then. He had been battling heart and kidney related illnesses for quite some time. There was some improvement in his condition, and his family members were quite hopeful. However, the unfortunate incident happening Monday morning when the veteran actor passed away at 9:00 AM.


Last week, Gufi Paintal was admitted to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Andheri due to age-related illness, where he is undergoing treatment.


Talking about the current health condition of Gufi Paintal, his actor nephew Hiten Paintal told ABP News that his uncle is still kept under observation in ICU, but already a lot of improvement is being seen in his health and now the yesteryear actor's condition is stable.


Hiten Paintal told that his uncle Gufi Paintal was already suffering from heart and kidney related problems and various diseases for a long time.


According to media reports, Gufi's health has been declining for quite some time, but things took a turn for the worst on May 31. After then, he was rushed to the hospital.


On Instagram, Tina Ghai shared a post concerning Gufi Paintal's health. She also requested fans to offer prayers for his recovery. She wrote, "Just like there's always time for pain, there's always time for healing.” “ Keep praying friends 🙏 Miracles happen".


Gufi Paintal was not only a talented actor but also a director. His epic ‘Mahabharat’ TV series, which was first broadcast in the late '80s, has been his lasting legacy. His other works such as ‘Rafoo Chakkar’, ‘Des Pardes’, ‘Dillagi’, ‘Maidan-E-Jung’, and ‘Daava’ are also highly regarded.


Gufi Paintal's last rites will be performed at 4 PM today.
