New Delhi: Choreographer Geeta Kapur recently had a candid chat on the latest episode of Maniesh Paul’s podcast. The choreographer, who has been seen as a judge in many dance shows, opened her heart out and spoke about her initial days, she also opened up about her journey post losing her mother.
While speaking to Maniesh, Geeta also revealed how she was affected by people body shaming her when she started her television journey as a judge with ‘Dance India Dance’ along with Terence Lewis and Remo D’Souza. She said, “I would get such nasty comments through fan mails. One day, I was really upset and wondered what was even happening. Why is no one looking at my work? I am sitting in the middle of two men and trying to make my place but no one looking at that. No one is seeing the hard work that I am doing. Why is everyone asking why do I belong here? People used to call me fat. 'You look like a buffalo'. Obviously, Terrence was a good-looking guy and Remo had a personality to look forward to and everybody was like ‘why are you here?’”
Geeta also revealed how she met Farah Khan during a fashion show. Geeta replaced Farah for a dance performance as the latter was not well.
“I will never forget that because the show was so pivotal in my life. During the show, I met a fantastic and brilliant dancer called Farah Khan. That was the show where I met her for the first time. The choreographer who had choreographed us for the fashion show asked me if I would be a part of a dancing troupe since one of her girls fell sick. The dancer who was not well and I had replaced was Farah Ji. My journey as a dancer started off from there. She called me after that and thanked me for replacing her since she had fallen sick very badly. And then she told me that she has been watching me off late and will I dance with her in her troupe. I was the youngest dancer in her troupe and hence the maternal love had started off from there itself,” she told Maniesh.
